Bless India ’08
On January 3rd, 2008, Rebekah Bentley and I left from Richmond, VA for Vishakhapatnam, India. Our purpose was to assist Christ the King of Kings Ministries, at their Two World’s children’s home and public school in Avasamovaram, Andhra Pradesh. We arrived on January 5th (long trip
).
Our first project was to plan for a two-day Vacation Bible School, two weeks after our arrival. When all was said and done, 150 children, in addition to the 150 residing at the children’s home, heard the gospel of Yeshua the Messiah through songs, skits, speakers, and even in crafts. Many of the children brought in from the surrounding villages are from a Hindu background. It was a blessed time.
Following this, we began to teach English to a few of the classes at the school. It was also around this time, that God revealed the other reason that we had come to India – to record and produce an album of the children singing praise and worship songs.
Over the next month and a half, we taught English, spoke in churches, and prepared the children to sing on the album. And God was working in our hearts during this time as well.
God began speaking to me of His faithfulness, of His ability to provide for our needs, and of just how little we actually do need.
At the end of March, we began to record the children singing. It was an exciting time, during which God continued to work in my heart, and give me a vision for His work.
Finally, after a week and a half of recording, and a few days to focus on other activities, it was time to leave. On April 9th, we flew back from Vishakhapatnam, India, and arrived in Richmond, VA late April 10th. We had gone there with the purpose of blessing the children of India… But I think that they blessed us more…
Praise the Lord!
