*deep breath*
Wow, what a day.
This has been quite a long, and good, day. First, let me make it very clear that I’m about to keel over from sleep deprivation, so the message I’m about to give you is of the utmost importance…
…Or it might not make sense… Either way, you’ll have to read on to find out.
So, having gotten about five hours of sleep last night, I woke up to get to Sar Shalom early for a men’s Bagels, Bibles, and Prayer. Good time, chatting with the men of the congregation. Worship at Sar Shalom went well… I actually knew most of the songs!
…Oh, a little side-note for the uninformed – Having grown up in a very white, suburban church, being in the middle of a Messianic community is quite an interesting experience. The songs they sing are almost completely different, in sound, texture, and lyrics. The keys are often minor (which I enjoy). Most of the songs I’ve never even heard of. A select few I do know, though, which is nice.
…Anyways, worship was good. Rabbi Dennis spoke about Mother’s Day. Is that really tomorrow? (Shoot, did that one slip out?
)
This is where the day gets long. Following the message and the meal I stayed there until 4pm helping set up for tonight. Tonight was a fundraiser concert for the Rabbi and his family to help with their move to Israel (man… what an incredible opportunity..). At 4, we started to rehearse for the night.
The rehearsal went alright… But when we played live, it went a lot better. I told Dan before the night that the Holy Spirit was gonna show up and everything would fall into place… Sure enough, everything did.
Oh, there were rough spots for sure (like when I dropped my music, and the pianist had to start the song instead of me… and when I forgot to turn my guitar’s volume up on the other song I was starting…), but hey, Satan will do whatever he can to mess up a great thing, right? Not that he can really change much. God’s pretty much sovereign no matter which way you cut it.
So I finally got home about half an hour ago… And now I’m really tired and ready for some sleep. It was a good day, though. God was glorified, and that’s what really counts.
